Crow’s Shadow Institute Of The Arts Biennial

Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Salem, OR - Part I to April 24; Part II May 8 – Aug 14

by Joseph Gallivan

Easily the best print studio in Oregon, the Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts (based on the Umatilla Reservation) gets its moment in the spotlight in Salem. The work that goes into making prints is often overlooked by the painting-centric art world, but the printmaking at Crow’s Shadow shows a high degree of both mastery and collaboration. This fine selection of works by both Native and non-Native artists was curated by Rebecca Dobkins, anthropology professor and curator of Native American art.
