PART OF HANDWORK 2026
What does it mean to be an “emerging artist”? When does an artist become “emerging,” and who gets to decide? Explore all this and more in our Crafting Futures Panel Discussion, part of Handwork 2026!

In this engaging panel discussion with representatives from craft organizations across the Puget Sound region and BIMA’s Chief Curator Greg Robinson, we will explore the meaning of “emerging artists” and the vast interpretations of its meaning. The discussion, moderated by BIMA’s Learning and Engagement lead, Jenna d’Anna, will also highlight works from BIMA’s Crafting Futures: Emerging Artists Invitational exhibition and the emerging artists the panelists are closely following today.

The panel will be followed by an audience Q&A and reception.
