Tsukiji Impressions by Deirdre Kelly
Victoria’s Deirdre Kelly was an artist and a community builder. In 2008, she co-founded the Fernwood Art Stroll annual studio tour, and in 2015, the Gage Gallery. Tsukiji Impressions is focused on Kelly’s fascination with Tokyo’s Tsukiji fish market. Between 2015 and 2017, she exhibited her Tsukiji-inspired paintings and multimedia work throughout Victoria. The resultant publication contains commentaries on each work by John Hillian and an interview with the artist, who spoke of her desire to take the series to Japan. Kelly passed away in 2018.
