Taizo Yamamoto: Carts, Hedges, Lions
Central to this book are three objects familiar to Vancouverites: “good luck” lion sculptures placed in front of homes, mostly on the city’s east side; shopping carts piled high with the belongings of those who push them through the city’s downtown core; and massive hedges that protect some of the city’s wealthier west-side homes from sonic or criminal intrusion—all realistically drawn in graphite by architect Taizo Yamamoto, with texts by Kevin Chong, Aaron Peck and Jackie Wong.
