Lilith

Lilith, by Lilian Broca, is published online by the Sidney and Gertrude Zack Gallery in conjunction with the author’s recent exhibition of mixed-media drawings. For Broca, Lilith exists not simply as the Biblical Adam’s independent-minded (and apocryphal) first wife but also as an erotic politician who, had the rabbis not cast her out of Genesis, might have made that book a more interesting story. Accompanying the drawings are Broca’s thoughtful annotations. Lilith concludes with a series of in-progress photos detailing how her drawings came to be made.
