Curve! Women Carvers on the Northwest Coast

The rounded edges, flowing lines and smooth surfaces of carved wood are on full display in this catalogue for the Curve! exhibition at Whistler’s Audain Art Museum (to May 5). Showcasing the often-overlooked historical and contemporary contributions of women to Northwest Coast carving, this publication overflows with vibrant, dreamy and bold works by 14 artists carving primarily in wood and argillite that “cross generations and territories,” writes co-curator and artist Dana Claxton, head of UBC’s Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory.
