Join instructor Desiree DeRuiter at the Vernon Arts Summer School to explore the art of traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking. Using the non-toxic, water-based Mokuhanga process, participants will carve, ink, and hand-print layered abstract works from a single woodblock while exploring colour, texture, and reduction techniques.

This process-focused workshop blends traditional Edo-period methods with a contemporary experimental approach, making it ideal for artists looking to expand their printmaking or painting practice through material exploration and layered image-making.

Leave with a small edition of original prints and foundational Mokuhanga skills to continue developing at home or in the studio.
