This year we celebrate 40 years of Preview!

All of us at the magazine extend our sincere thanks to our readers, advertisers and all the galleries and museums that list with us. We value our relationships and your ongoing support, which has made it possible for us to reach this milestone of four decades in the Pacific Northwest, including Alberta, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon.
In 1986, founder Janice Whitehead was inspired to create Preview, having recognized the need for a visual arts guide during Expo 86 (see page 30 of Apr – May 2026 or read online). In 2017, 31 years later, I acquired and became publisher of Preview and brought together an exceptional team to publish five issues per year. We refreshed and updated our guide in print and online and redesigned the website. Challenges along the way have strengthened our creativity and resilience.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with such dedicated, creative and accomplished people. And it’s a privilege to connect with over 200 galleries, museums and artist studios throughout the Pacific Northwest. They continue to find imaginative ways to illuminate the work of emerging and established artists, and we in turn highlight this talent.
As a media sponsor, Preview is proud to support a range of visual arts programs and events across our regions:
Salt Spring National Art Prize; Yukon Prize for Visual Arts; Art Vancouver; Astoria Open Studios Tour; Columbia Basin Culture Tour; Eastside Culture Crawl; Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour; InFocus Photo Exhibit/Awards/Book; Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre; New West Cultural Crawl; North Shore Art Crawl; Queer Arts Festival; Sooke Fine Arts Show; Sunshine Coast Art Crawl; Tacoma Arts Month, Vancouver Art Guild Annual Salon and West of Main Art Walk.
To our community, thank you. We appreciate your support and friendship, which has enabled Preview to thrive through four decades and will carry us forward.
