The latest private collection to be showcased at the Griffin belongs to Montreal’s Lillian and Billy Mauer. It features over 40 works in painting, sculpture and photography by artists such as Carrie May Weems, Lorraine O’Grady, John Baldessari, Rosemarie Trockel, Doug Aitken, Tatiana Trouvé, Huma Bhabha, Frank Bowling, Betty Goodwin and Annette Messager. Though much of the Mauer Collection is focused on political and socially engaged content, Montreal-based curator Lesley Johnstone has selected works that represent the breadth of the collection. griffinartprojects.ca
