Aisha Harrison: Porous Body

For her first solo museum exhibition, Olympia-based Aisha Harrison brings a striking collection of figurative works in ceramics, bronze, paper collage and mixed media. Focusing on individuals within her African American community, Harrison transmutes their realistic features into mythic fantasies, bolstering latent spiritual power and mysterious presence. Maternal ancestors are invoked alongside inverted tree stumps, abstracted human body parts and wall-mounted masks.
