Using carded wool in its raw form, Nicola McGarry combined multi-coloured threads into 400 cake shapes and aligned them behind the KAG’s Glass Gallery window. Though the overall composition brings to mind a lakeside sunset landscape, individual rounds draw the eye, and soon one is aware of how each is an autonomous work, a sculptural adaptation of Josef Albers’ Homage to the Square paintings, where colour “is almost never seen as it really is,” but as something that must be experienced. kelownaartgallery.com
