MEGGAN JOY: BATTLE CRY
J. Rinehart Gallery, Seattle. Jun 13 – Jul 25
Meggan Joy is making photographs of women’s bodies without using women or real bodies. Her spectacularly odd floral constructions of women’s bodies have attracted attention in photo exhibitions in New York and Laguna Beach, Calif., as well as in photography magazines in Canada, Finland and the United Kingdom. For J. Rinehart, she has created digital collages of warrior women but assembled them out of plants and seeds she planted in her backyard garden. The results are uncanny and beautiful.
