The Whatcom Museum occupies three distinctive and historically significant buildings in downtown Bellingham’s Arts District. The Lightcatcher building features rotating traveling art exhibitions, a permanent Northwest Coast exhibit, the Family Interactive Gallery, and the Museum Store. The Museum’s 1892 Old City Hall building features maritime and logging history exhibits, as well as the John M. Edson Hall of Birds. The Syre Education Center contains the Photo Archives.
Opening Nov 11 Bellingham National: Acts of Healing and Repair. Our fourth biennial juried art exhibition. Grace Kook-Anderson of the Portland Art Museum is the exhibition’s guest juror and selected three Juror’s Choice Awards. Pieces by long-established and up-and-coming visual artists from around the US are on display. Video, glass, fiber, painting, sculpture.
