To Nov 27 Across the West and Toward the North: Norwegian and American Landscape Photography provides a new examination of Norwegian and American landscape photography in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Opening Dec 9 (Special Exhibition) Mygration features the works by Sámi artist Tomas Colbengtson and Swedish painter Stina Folkebrant. This artistic response to a failed government attempt to import reindeer as a food source during the Alaskan gold rush weaves together archival photos of Sámi immigrants selected by Colbengtson, with Folkebrant’s large-scale paintings of the eight seasons of the mountain world, illustrating the Sámi concept of time and the life of the reindeer.
