Explore the Ambleside and Dundarave neighbourhoods by taking a self-guided tour of our local galleries, public art, and community spaces. Join us for First Thursdays Art Walk to discover and celebrate visual art, cultural activities, and local artists. May 4, June 1, July 6, and September 7 from 6–8 p.m.
Learn to make a woven cedar bark bookmark with S?wx?wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) weaver and educator Alice Guss (Tsawaysia Spukwus) in this intimate workshop. Alice will start with a welcome song, an opening circle and share some traditional drumming and singing. She will guide attendees through the cultural importance of cedar while working on their bookmarks. All materials provided to make one bookmark. This workshop is generously supported by the West Vancouver Foundation.
Tsawaysia Spukwus (Alice Guss), is a Squamish Nation member, born and raised in Squamish, BC. She specializes in facilitating workshops that provide innovative learning opportunities for students in drum making, wool weaving, cedar bark, traditional medicine, plant, and forage walks. She is the former Associate Director of Education for the Squamish Nation and is currently a cultural programmer at the Museum of North Vancouver.
