Embark on a journey into the world of comics and visual storytelling with non-fiction cartoonist and graphic journalist, Rod Driver. In this full-day workshop, participants will get to craft their very own one-page comic and take home a Risograph-printed zine compilation of the class projects after the workshop.
Rod Driver (he/him) is a Seattle cartoonist who loves reading, research, and getting excited about the world. Rod draws nonfiction comics, draws pictures, and makes zines. Some of his favorite things are history, intertextuality, oceans, and rivers. He is a Watson Fellow, and spent August 2019 to March 2020 studying comics in Indonesia, Australia, Japan, and Germany. His undergraduate senior thesis is Up the Columbia!, a 50-page graphic history of the Columbia River dams. His other work includes Yarn Doll Comics, an autobio series, and Doukhobor Comics, a history of a Russian-Canadian pacifist sect.
