Exhibition Statement
In the past 2 years with the COVID Pandemic, events have been shrunken, modified and cancelled many times. It has been difficult to even make art for many artists that rely on group firings and other facilities. Classes are often on-line and not in person, creating more difficulties to learn and make work. So it is with these things in mind that we have decided to have an “Artist’s Choice” Exhibition, that can include a piece made at any time, rather than just in the last year, which is normally the case for our juried shows. It should be a piece that speaks to the artist, their favourite piece perhaps, one that they are most proud of, or that was most difficult for them to achieve. We are asking for their artist statements with their personal reasons for exhibiting this particular piece.  We hope you enjoy this exhibition.

Artist Biography
The Fraser Valley Potters Guild is a non-profit association which was formed in 1975 by a group of alumni of the Surrey Campus Ceramics Department of Douglas College who wished to continue the camaraderie and opportunities for professional growth and development that had started in classes at the college. Our Guild moved to the present location at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Surrey Campus, in the late 80’s and today we have close to 100 members, from Yarrow to Richmond. Our members include a range of pottery enthusiasts, ceramics and art teachers, professional ceramicists, students, and hobby potters who show their work nationally and internationally and include their work in public art commissions, community projects, and one-person shows.
