Froelick Gallery presents two solo shows of new work by local artist Kris Hargis and Japanese artist Takahiko Hayashi.

Breath of Life, Breath of Line

The solo exhibition Takahiko Hayashi’s Breath of Life, Breath of Line features new paintings on parchment and celebrates 25 years of representation at Froelick Gallery. Hayashi’s compositions are known for fluidly patterned lines drawn from the observed natural world and inspired by the perceived ethereal life. His works are often described as representing flowing water, vining roots, feather plumes, windy torrents, or floral rosettes. All hand drawn, his works are filled with fine precision and loose organic gestures. Gardening and poetry influence his worldview. The book Breath of Life, Breath of Line was published by Froelick Gallery and The Japan Artists Association and will accompany this exhibit.

A Dash Between the Years

After experiencing a sudden and tragic loss, artist Kris Hargis returns to Froelick Gallery with a striking collection of captivating self-portraits and still life's. This new body of work titled, A Dash Between the Years, invites the viewer into a deeply private and internal space. His pastel and charcoal drawings walk a line between focused rendering and expressive gestural marks.
