Sep 8-22 Madeleine Wood: Dream On. Wood’s paintings evoke a sense of intimacy. She chooses to include the viewer in private moments that could be snapshots of memories or fantasies. This collection of new paintings take on a more surreal influence incorporating overlapping images to re-contextualize the subject matter.
Oct 13-27 Sean Yelland: There Are No Words. Sean Yelland is a Toronto based painter who seeks to capture the picturesque in everyday urban settings, finding the beautiful and mysterious in the mundane. His work plays with a sense of voyeurism. Yelland removes the comfort of the expected, and questions our relationship to our environment. In this series of 20 new paintings he focuses on text in landscape often cutting off words on signs to create new, often subversive meanings.
