Tony Scherman: Pictures from Rome-Prologue
Thursday, June 7th, 7 to 9pm
Artist talk: June 9th at 2pm.
Solo exhibition of encaustic paintings, an ancient medium that lends itself to the visionary qualities that artist Tony Scherman brings to his work. Scherman’s virtuosic use of encaustic sets him apart because these monumental images call into question their own subject. Ironically, encaustic painting became a lost art after the fall of the Roman Empire and this exhibition is a deconstruction of the men of Ancient Roman.
