Spotlight YEG- Artist Talk and Cookie Workshop with Annete ten Cate

The tastiest Artist Talk you’ve ever been to! Join visiting ceramic artist Annette ten Cate at the Alberta Craft Gallery-Edmonton for a Cookies and Ceramics Artist Talk and mini Workshop.

During the first part of the evening, Medicine Hat artist, Annette te Cate, will guide us through an interactive cookie-cutter making and decorating workshop. What do cookies and ceramics have in common you ask? Annette has found a sweet spot where her expertise in hand-building and carving transfers into cookie making – and we’ll get to try it all! After sculpting both your own cookie cutter AND cookie, we’ll pop ‘em in the oven.

While our sweets are baking, Annette will give a presentation about her current work “Life on Earthenware”, her journey into ceramics, her processes, and what draws her to folk art and anthropomorphism – the attribution of human characteristics or behaviour to an animal or object. She will also talk about her teaching and learning experiences as a current TREX program artist.

This event is presented in conjunction with TREX – a provincial travelling exhibition program that strives to bring art experiences to every Albertan.

5:30pm – 6:30pm: Cookie making
